Usri Banerjee has been playing the harmonium from the age of 3, later she took formal vocal training in Rabindrasangeet from Abhirup Guhathakurta for 16 years. She has done her Diploma with Dakshinee, an institution where Rabindrasangeet or Tagore's music is taught. She has also learnt Indian Classical under the tutelage of Shantanu Banerjee (son of) Dr.Amiya Ranjan Banerjee. For the last few years she has trained for Indian Classical music with Mrs. Pragya Banerjee,who hails from the Patiala gharana, and Mrs.Sanchalika Bhattacharya. Her voice training programme was conducted by Subhamita Banerjee. She is a gifted singer and musician with who can seamlessly move between the genres of Indian Folk, Classical and Pop music. Usri adds the rustic sounds of Harmonium and her gifted voice has given a new dimension to the Oikyotaan sound.
